Self-Adhesive magnets are covered one side with glue (3M), halfth of magnets with south pole at glue side, the other halfth with north pole at glue side. So the magnets can be used pairwise (e.g. as closure of folding boxes). If the magnets are used separately to affix something on metal they also can be used by ignoring the poles.
